RECTOR KARABULUT WAS THE GUEST OF THE PROGRAM “ON THE WAY TO THE UNIVERSITY”

Malatya Turgut Özal University Rector Prof. Dr. Aysun Bay Karabulut gave information about the academic and scientific studies of Malatya Turgut Özal University and Malatya, as a guest of the program “On University Road” hosted by Bengü Kantekin on TV 100.

Rector Karabulut, referring to the establishment and institutionalization efforts of MTU, said, “From the moment the founding law was signed by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on May 18, 20218, a festive atmosphere was created in Malatya. Our foundation works, which started with our Faculty of Agriculture and 8 Vocational Schools, continued rapidly today with 5 new faculties, departments, programs and academic units. ”

Rector Prof. Dr. Karabulut, referring to the Covid 19 process and the activities carried out within the Faculty of Medicine in this process, said, “One of our new faculties was the Faculty of Medicine, as you know, our late President Turgut Özal had projects in the field of health in Malatya. As we progress in the field of health, of course, we continue our progress in line with these goals. The establishment of our medical school was a difficult process for us. With the increase in the epidemic and the increasing importance of health in the process, the establishment of the medical school was welcomed in Malatya. In this process, we were affiliated with Malatya Turgut Özal University Training and Research Hospital with the support of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, our President of The Council of Higher Education, Yekta Saraç, and our Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca. In this process, of course, there was a serious patient circulation and our studies continued in this direction. ”

 

Stating that they attach importance to social and awareness-raising activities, Rector Karabulut said, “Last month, on April 17, at the commemoration ceremony of the 8th President, the late Turgut Özal, his precious family; their sons, Ahmet Özal, Efe Özal, and his wife Semra Özal attended the memorial ceremony. At the same time, President of the Presidency Local Governments Policies Board Şükrü Karatepe addressed our students. They gave a number of messages in the sense that the university carries the name of Turgut Özal. It was a program that touched both young people and all listeners. ”

 

“Our faculties were established according to the characteristics of their location”

 

Stating that MTU is a university that preserves the green and carries out academic activities in this field, Prof. Dr. Karabulut said, “Indeed, Malatya Turgut Özal University is located in Battalgazi campus as Green Campus due to its location, and when we consider the name of Turgut Özal globally, it surrounds the whole city. We have vocational schools in 8 districts and campuses in two main districts. Our faculties were established according to the characteristics of their location. Like our medical faculty being close to the hospital, and the faculty of agriculture being located in a land and green location. In this sense, we are a university that strives to show itself in the national and international arena, rising with quality with the slogan of science, endeavor, devotion . ”

 

“A University Achieving Many International and National Studies”

Rector Karabulut, who talked about the studies and goals of the faculties, said, “We have a Faculty of Agriculture and we have Battalgazi Vocational School for the cultivation of garden plants. We continue to work with our faculty members and administrative team on the vegetables grown there, greenhouses and products grown in many areas. We have a faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. In our faculty, we have a department of engineering especially on vaccination studies. In our faculty, we have a bioengineering department especially on vaccine studies. We have a faculty of art design and architecture. The Music Department was opened this year with the support of our President of The Council of Higher Education, Yekta Saraç. It is truly a university that has achieved many international and national studies. Our Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities has turned into an innovative faculty that can include many departments from tourism to business and management sciences. ”

 

Rector Prof. Dr. Karabulut said, “Pandemic rules were established on March 11, and we started distance education on March 13. Our students both receive live education and can come back and work on the lessons whenever they want. We have survey results on these. They have a satisfaction rate of up to 87%. Our distance education process is going well. We recently signed a protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture. This year, we had many guests with distance education. Our TUBİTAK President and Aselsan President met with our students. Our President of The Council of Higher Education, attended our senate online.  Our faculty members were very motivated. All of these are a process that motivates us and makes our students happy. ” said.

Stating that they have increased their R&D and URGE studies with Application and Research Centers, Karabulut said, “They are calling us from abroad, for example, we heard about your apricot, they say we want a certified product from Malatya Turgut Özal University Agriculture Faculty. We have studies on Traditional and Complementary Medicine,

We have 11 research and application centers. We have a research and development center on apricot. ” used the expressions. We have an area where we can plant all kinds of products from apricots, hemp cultivation, textile related industry. For example, we have a facility related to basil in Arapgir. We support them with scientific studies. Of course, when you transfer every work to a scientific platform, its value increases. ”

 

“We Illuminate the Farmer’s Problem in the Light of Science”

 

Prof. Dr. Karabulut said, “When we look at the scientists in the international arena, they support scientific studies for the introduction of their local products to the foreign market. There was a problem with sulfur related to Malatya Apricot, farmers reached us. I have written and published books on the benefits of sulfur at a certain level. We have had a very good project combining software engineering and agriculture. For example, the farmer has a frost problem in apricot. We continue to work on a project that will inform the farmer in advance and take the necessary precautions. There is a product that we produce from apricot kernel, especially it has a pain relieving effect. We worked a lot on this and after obtaining the relevant permissions, it has been started production. We have very serious scientific studies on cancer, cancer prevention and these have been published in very valuable journals. ”
